A baby donkey is called a foal. When a female donkey (jenny) gives birth to a foal, it usually weighs between 19-30 pounds and stands at around 20-24 inches tall. The foal will remain close to its mother for the first few months of its life, nursing for nutrients and protection. Foals are known for their playful and curious nature, often running and bucking around in a display of energy.
Foals are weaned off their mother's milk at around 4-6 months old, but may continue to stay close to their mother for up to a year as they learn basic social and survival skills. As they grow, foals will develop their own unique personalities and may even form close bonds with other foals or animals in their environment.
Baby donkeys, like adult donkeys, are known for their gentle and loyal nature. They are intelligent animals that are often used for work, such as carrying loads or pulling carts. With proper care and training, foals can grow up to be strong, dependable, and loving companions.
